Want to send more targeted newsletters to specific subscribers? In this video, you'll learn how to segment subscribers who clicked a specific link in a newsletter.
To start, go to Automation and click Create a new workflow. Give your campaign a name and select a subscriber group for the workflow. Then choose a trigger and click Save.
Then add the email you'd like your subscribers to receive after joining the group. We’ll choose a draft email for now.
Remember to add the link you want your subscribers to click and then click Done editing. We’ll also add a delay of 3 days, meaning your email will first be sent 3 days after someone clicks the link. After you’re done with the automation press Save.
Let's create a condition connected to the activity of this workflow. Choose a trigger named Had a specific link clicked. In this video, I’ll choose the link to the PDF of the first chapter of my book. Then click Save.
Now let's create an action for the subscribers who clicked the link (the “Yes” part of the condition). Select Copy to a new group and name it, for example, Downloaded 1st Chapter. Click Save again.
When this workflow is active, anyone who subscribers to this group will get an email with a download link to the first chapter of the book. They have 3 days to click the link and if they do, they will be moved to a new group called Downloaded 1st Chapter.
As time passes by, more engaged subscribers will be added to your new group. You can then create custom campaigns or workflows for them. For example, you can send a follow-up email asking how people liked the first chapter of the book.
You can also create an action for the people who did not click any link. If you leave the No condition part empty, nothing will happen for those users.
